Appendectomy?

I have extreme pain in the lower right side of my abdomen, i wen to the ER and I had a normal white count, I don't have a fever, is appendicitis still an option. They did an ultrasound, but they couldn't see the appendix, so that was a waste of time, what is the next step, I have diarhia, is that also a symptom of appendicitis
